About Adi Tada

Adi Tada  simply means  strike and block in Malayalam, and to describe this form of Indian martial art  that has been around for 1000's of years that would give a great insight for those wishing to study its methods. There are 64 different skills of striking and blocking, throwing and 64 locking techniques that incorporate legs locks, arm locks, head locks etc, they are done whilst standing, on the floor, crouching and so on. There are a unique combination of different forms called Chuvada, that contain a variety of different movements and manoeuvres such as circle, triangle, square, star, swastika, Sideward's, from the floor. Along with its forms there are Kai poru drills or hand fight skills. These are practised with a partner that will encourage correct technique and timing, and knowing what each technique is for when it comes to a real fight situation. As with all its methods, there are escapes from a locks using a variety of different manoeuvres that will help self defence at a much higher level. Adi tada is like a game of Chess, each technique has a counter each move has a option. Adi Tada is a thinking mans martial art. One needs to experience the art to appreciate it methods. Of it weapons there is the basic training weapons such as the short stick that is about an arms length and the long stick that is up to the nose in length these are called Kuru Vadi and nedu Vadi. Later metal weapons are applied in combat. Like most martial arts. Indian Martial arts has its animal skills in it forms and it appliactions. These are some of them.
