Weapons of Kalari and knife defence

In today’s society there is an urgent need for self defence against weapons and bladed weapons especially. Naturally we have to be realistic against such weapons and those who attack us with intention to hurt us or kill us. But is there such a thing as a defence against a knife? What could be done? How will I react? Will I freeze when faced with an attack?. These are the questions that one should be asking. So what can this Ancient Indian Kalari offer? Firstly there is a science behind the way that you will be taught in this art. Its no use just learning a few locks, then convince yourself that your ready. So what is the science behind this art when it comes to knife defence.

Firstly, you have to prepare your self to move. There are 7 positions of moving. These must be trained over a period of time gaining correct position. Then and only then you can proceed to use correct blocking and locking. How long does this take you

may ask? It could be 6 months

it could be 10 years. But without

such fundamental set up,

knife defence will be

almost impossible.
